**************************************** THE DRUIDS OF STONEHENGE
Creation - Mono Pressing!
This incredibly snotty, snarling rare garage punk psych album is one of the best items on the Uni label for garage collectors... and this Mono mix is far superior to the Stereo edition! They do amazing covers of "Signed D.C." (Love), "It's All Over Now, Baby Blue" (Bob Dylan) and "I Put A Spell On You" (Screamin' Jay Hawkins). The songs "Pale Dream" and the beautiful harpsichord laced "Six Feet Down" appeared on the psych comp, 'Baubles Vol 1'. But, it's the jaw-dropping tuff punkers "Speed"; "Painted Woman" and "Earthless" that make collectors salivate. Other mind-bending selections include "Bring It On Home (Can't Get By Alone)"; "Forgot To Be Begot" & "A Garden Where Nothing Grows".
Formed while students attending New York's Columbia and Syracuse Universities, by lead singer Dave Budge; guitarist Carl Hauser; drummer Steve Tindall; rhythm guitarist Bill Tracy and bassist Tom Workman, The Druids of Stonehenge relocated to Los Angeles, California and recorded this legendary fuzz acid garage LP, the kind nobody has come close to making (or even faking) since the 1960s! It was their only release before fading into even deeper obscurity. David Budge is incredible with vocals that can only be described as Mick Jagger & Eric Burdon meets Iggy Pop & Lou Reed. Some of the tunes are kinda R&B blues-psych and some display a Velvet Underground minimalism. It's guaranteed to please even the staunchest 60s psych critic. Produced by Jerry Goldstein, this is an original 1968 Mono pressing on Uni Records (3004). The Mono issues were probably only sent out to radio stations, while the Stereo editions went out to stores only. The cover shows some typical color rubbing, and a delete hole appears in the lower right corner. Otherwise, everything appears in overall beautiful near EXcellent to Excellent condition!
