**************************************** LULU - New Routes
Over the years, Lulu has gained a considerable following in the United States. Her #1 smash hit "To Sir With Love" (surprisingly relegated to a B-side in the UK), brought much media attention and recognition as a major recording artist. After her string of hits produced by Mickie Most, Lulu moved towards a more R&B influenced sound, & eventually signed to Atco in 1969. It was during this period at Atco where Lulu produced some of her most critically acclaimed material. Her worldwide hit "Oh Me Oh My (I'm A Fool For You Baby)" was strong evidence of this, appearing on the "New Routes" LP ATCO (310), produced by Arif Mardin, Jerry Wexler & Tom Dowd. The session musicians included DUANE ALLMAN; Cornell Dupree; Eddie Hinton; Barry Beckett, and others, recorded at Muscle Shoals Studios. Lulu had just married Maurice Gibb of The Bee Gees, and this session ranks among one of her best. Selections include: Marley Purt Drive; In The Morning (both are Bee Gees Songs); People In Love; After All (I Live My Life); Feelin' Alright; Dirty Old Man; Oh Me Oh My (I'm A Fool For You Baby); Is That You Love; Mr. Bojangles; Where's Eddie; and Sweep Around Your Own Backdoor. This is an original 1969 pressing. There a very small delete hole to the upper left corner, otherwise the jacket, labels & playing surfaces all appear in overall beautiful near MINT!
